I am sad because my wife will not go to Cleveland with me to buy a manual wagon.

Looks like you’ve got a solo road trip ahead of you then!

I had one. They’re awful.

Friends of mine had one ages ago, they never changed the oil and I don’t think that they even checked/topped up on a regular basis. That thing just kept on going.

Is the problem the wagon or the fact that it’s in Cleveland?

Friend had one growing up! third-gear wouldn’t engage, but otherwise that thing just kept on going! He sold it when he got a good deal on a Mercury Cougar V6 manual...

I am afraid that would be something like uber, Greyhound, uber, buy a vehicle site unseen, then driving home.

What one did you have, year, body, engine, transmission? More information to discourage me would be beneficial. Was everthing about it horrible?

She doesn’t want to go to Cleveland. I need a truck and trailer, so I can go buy all kinds of random vehicles.

2000 M/T sedan. Yes, everything about it was that horrible. It was my dad’s. It was slow, the clutch shattered (yes, seriously - it just broke into pieces randomly at about 30k miles), the shifter reminded me of mt ‘88 Tercel’s feel (in a bad way, of course), it didn’t get very good gas mileage, the suspension was as soft as a 30 year old American full-size, everything inside was rubbery plastic, etc. To make things more fun, good luck finding parts now that Suzuki’s not in NA. It’s been over a decade since my dad got rid of it, but it was easily the worst new car I’ve ever seen. If you want a cheap Suzuki wagon, get the Forenza. For reference in case you think my standards are too high, the best car I’ve ever owned was a 2000 Elantra Wagon and I love the Mirage.

No I will not get a Forenza. I know they are junk. I was not sure about the Esteem, but they always intrigued me.

The Forenza is better. Much, much better. My dad bought one of those after the Esteem. Apart from the A/C which has died repeatedly before giving up on it, the thing’s solid.
